Let me tell you a story about me and LilShadow, the woman you called a liar on the Burningman Tribe (bm.tribe.net/thread/a6c9...6a77591132b)

It's in our Testimonials to each other.
I asked her to be a friend.. She said no. I accepted that. I didn't ask again and again. I respect women. Hell...I respect people!
We met on the Playa, held hands, and drank blood together.
We have been fast friends ever since. Walking each other through some seriously tough times, laughing and sharing the good. Talking on the phone at least once a month ever since.
She is an Angel!
One thing she has never done is lie. To me, or to anyone I know.

You questioned the integrity of a good woman. That was your first mistake.
Your second was picking on someone that you thought was weak.

Since then, I have been contacted by other women that you have preyed on.
One has only to look at some of the degrading photo's of women, of seriously sick Porn mixed in with 'Prayer Wheels' to see your character.
Personally...I think you are a new phenomenon.

Every woman felt creeped out (like the women on Tribe I've talked to) 'hit on' by a dirty old Hippy.

We Are the Arcturians

We are the Arcturians, and I am Juliano, one of the commanders
of the contingent that is overseeing the Earth connection. We
have a very strong interest in the Earth, for we view ourselves as
the midwives of your spiritual birth into the fifth dimension. You
would not expect a human baby to be born into the third dimension
without assistance to both the mother and the baby.
Therefore, we have been designated as powerful helpers for you
in your birthing process. We are like a magnet that is attracting
your spiritual energy into the higher realms.

Please understand how important it is for you to have this
magnetic attraction. There are many distortions and diversions
on your third dimension. We know that you experience difficulty
when you are trying to concentrate. We are experts on focusing
energy into the higher spiritual realms. Our working with you is
going to foster and accelerate your development in a way that will
help you to move into the fifth dimension in a comfortable and
smooth fashion. Thus, we view our coming together as part of
your ascension process.

Many of you have multiple, past life connections with different
star systems, such as the Pleiades, and other galactic systems
that you are not consciously aware of in your Earth knowledge
base. I remind you that you connect to the other star systems
through the Arcturian Stargate- through us. We are loving beings,
serving the highest wisdom. We do not interfere, but only bring
you to these planes as your assistants and guides.

Connecting with the Arcturians

It is important for you to learn how to interact with the higher
dimensions and how to become more proficient at interfacing with
other planetary beings who are in alignment with the goals of your
development. This is most important when you are experiencing
what you call extraterrestrial beings, for you must be very careful
that you align with those who understand and support your chosen
path of evolutionary development.

You may think of us as highly developed spiritual beings from
the fifth dimension who are assisting the Earth beings in their
transition. We experienced our own third dimensional shift, our own
ascension, a very long time ago. We have evolved to a higher
state of consciousness, a state that many of you very much admire
and wish to participate in. This state of consciousness has to
do with the overcoming of primitive, basic instincts, and the moving
to a higher frequency that will allow you to exist in your light
bodies.

This really is the purpose of your evolutionary path on the
Earth. You wish to leave the physical and go into the light. What is
meant by "go into the light"? It is your ability to be in your light
body, free of the physical constraints of the Earth, free of the need
for the very contracted aspects of your life, those aspects that have
to do with the finiteness of the conception of your existence.

Not only have we worked with many starseeds, but we have also seen
many planets go through evolutionary shifts. It is of great interest
to us to observe the Earth and the planetary shift that she is
currently experiencing. Never has there been as much assistance
available to a planet as there is now to the Earth. You need to know
of the caring and concern that many higher beings have for the Earth,
and you need to know that they are watching over you. They are also
participating in the Earth evolution and her new birth. The Earth is
literally being "born again". There is a continuous death and rebirth
cycle in the universe. The Earth is going through a birthing process,
and you are at the cusp of this evolutionary shift.

The Arcturian Transmissions
We want to discuss with you the nature of our transmissions.
First of all, we are studying you carefully, as well as helping you.
We are studying your unfoldment as planetary beings. We are
studying your resistance, your densities, and your blocks to the
higher levels, including your acceptance of our existence. Part of
this resistance focuses on your cultural upbringing, and your
insistence in the educational process on logical understanding. On
the one hand, this has been a major advancement. On the other
hand, it has led you to many solid walls in your spiritual development
as galactic beings.

We need to remind you of your abilities to transform and activate
through light. We can reach you through speech, but part of our major
message is also an energy exchange. As we speak, our ships in the
fifth dimension are centered over you. Those who are hearing these
words and reading these pages, know that you can expand your awareness
to the fifth dimension. Know that the light from us and our ships can
reach you. Do not be afraid to activate yourselves. You have sought us
out because you have sensed a presence from another part of the galaxy
within you.

Think of the excitement you will feel when you acknowledge that you
exist in a galaxy in which you have opportunities to interact with
countless other beings and entities. Just open up to that possibility.
When you do, then you can receive transmissions from us.

Our transmissions are on a higher frequency that is still immeasurable
by your instrumentation. When receiving us, there is a slight beeping
sound that comes into your auric field. This activates special
electromagnetic receptors in your cellular structure, enabling you to
receive our thoughts. It helps you to "let go" in order to receive
these messages. Then you can translate them into your language.

We have learned your language, and we have studied your thought
patterns. We are familiar with your methods of deduction and
induction. We have studied your fears, your reactions and your human
aggressiveness that has been such a problem. Your jealousies, your
hatreds- we have explored these through many of our contacts and
observations. At times, with the permission of your higher selves, we
have temporarily resided in your bodies so that we could go through
days with you, or weeks, or even months when that was acceptable. We
have observed you so that we could learn more about your emotional
states. We have appreciated the opportunity to be with you for such
periods of time.

In return, we have offered you the reverse: we have offered
invitations to you to reside with us. You can come with us in spirit
to our planet, or visit our ships. The reverse, however, has been more
difficult, for many of you have not adequately prepared for a higher
frequency existence. We have found that, for the most part, you are in
need of deep healing. The experience of being on the Earth has been
very traumatic for most of you, and it requires some recovery. We are
more than willing to make our technology and thought patterns
available to you for your healing.

One of our special gifts to you is our thought patterns. We have
certain frequencies that can be made available to others. These
thought frequencies are not necessarily transmitted in words, although
there are sounds that can be voiced. When you are able to exist on our
frequency, you can experience an expansion of your cells, an expansion
into your light bodies, your light consciousness and your galactic
selves. Open your minds to the possibility of being on a new
frequency. We will be providing different sounds that will help to
activate you to this frequency. If you are reading these words, simply
connect with us in your thoughts, and we will be open to working with
you.

Just tuning in on our frequency will provide an upliftment and
an expansion for you. Frequencies are waves that you can ride.
Receive our frequency into your fields. Direct your consciousness
to your auras now, and be open to receiving the frequency of the
Arcturians. We are peaceful and spiritual. We seek higher development
and higher ethereal contact. We can help you transcend your lower
vibrations. It is through our abilities to work with frequencies
that we can achieve higher states of healing, spiritual
consciousness and technological development.

The Arcturian Earth Mission
The Arcturians have been connected with the Earth and the human race
in varying capacities for the past 150,000 years. We have been very
involved in the affairs of the planet Earth for the last 20,000 years.
Some of us were here much earlier, but this is the active phase of our
planetary involvement. We have had major contacts with you in your
current historic period. We were involved with the Hebrews on Mount
Sinai under the direction of Sananda and others. We have been
overseeing some of the evolutionary changes that have occurred. Even
more recently, we have been able to work with many of the Native
Americans very directly. Now, we are again working closely with many
of you as starseeds. Thus, you can see that we have a long-standing
kinship with the human race.

At this time, we have great contact and involvement with the Earth
because so many Arcturian starseeds are here. We work with the
permission of, and in service to, your White Brotherhood/ Sisterhood.
We acknowledge Sananda to be the Ascended Master of your planet. The
guidance that he offers you is from the highest galactic source. We
interface with that knowledge, as well as with his work and his great
love. We acknowledge all of your religious experiences, only wishing
to bring you into the highest interface with spiritual light.

It is true that other space beings are coming to your planet
continually for observation. Presently, some are interacting with
you. We are interacting only with certain chosen people on a
modified level, but we are seeking to create an awareness of our
presence. This has been authorized by the highest sources in
conjunction with your planetary evolution.

We have not been directly involved in human evolutionary changes or
genetic restructuring. Those issues were left up to the Pleiadians and
the Sirians. Other extraterrestrial groups have also done these
things. We, however, function more in the role of teachers or
overseers. We are here to help you graduate so that you can ascend
into the stargate, and move into the fifth dimensional realm.

Our current Earth mission is a very broad base mission. It is a
mission of love, spiritual evolvement, and learning. It is a mission
of connection, and, more specifically, a mission of energy infusion.
Ascension is a form of expansion. To expand, you need to hold more
energy. This is a universal law. We can help you accelerate your
mental, emotional and physical systems through the process of energy
infusion.

The Earth is experiencing an interdimensional transition. The locks on
the third dimensional realms are being loosened, not only for you, but
for the Earth as well. This is allowing a tremendous infusion of
energy to occur. If you focus your energy on higher beings, like
ourselves, you can work effectively in this new energy. We are very
pleased that we can now anchor fifth dimensional energy even more
deeply into your planetary system, and help the Earth in her ascension
process.

With the onset of this increased energy and the openings into the
higher dimensions, you need a focus. That is one of our missions
to you- to provide a consistent, etherically pure and high spiritual
energy focus for you. We are providing a gateway for you to meet us,
just as we have a gateway to the galaxy. This is our gift to you. We
want this to be a group gateway, for we communicate and work as a
group consciousness.

We want to help you raise your level of consciousness to a point where
you can enter the dimensional corridors that are now opening. You can
use these dimensional corridors to communicate and interact with us.
We can train you to work in interdimensional spaces, and project
yourselves through the corridors to our ships, and then to the
Arcturian system. We can help Connecting with the Arcturians you to
project yourselves to the interdimensional temples located on the
beautiful mountains of Arcturus.

It is also our mission to assist you in your purification. Come to us
in your consciousness, and know that we will assist you to purify and
to cleanse, so you can raise yourselves and your planet to a higher
level. We know how to help you purify your thought patterns. We
realized long ago that when you refine your thought patterns, you are
well on the way towards your spiritual birth.

We are a spiritual race, and we communicate telepathically. We are
specialists in bringing you the highest spiritual light, and in
utilizing healing chambers in order to provide assistance to you.
We bring down a golden blue beam of light for you. This light is
sprinkling very powerful rays that will enter your crown chakra.
We personally greet each of you with this burst of energy. We
recommend that you take this energy into your crown chakra and
expand your consciousness even beyond your emerging awareness of the
Arcturians.

The Arcturian System
We have a different name for Arcturus. It is in a language
you would not be able to understand, but what it means is "the
star that gives light" in much the way you look at a mother who is
providing life-giving nourishment. It is a well-seasoned star that
has been our focus for many eons.

As you might expect, our years are not like your years. Our
planet travels around the star Arcturus once every three hundred
twenty-two Earth years. You can imagine the difference in time
orientation. We live in a solar system that has fifteen planets, and
each planet is in a different stage of development. Some planets
exist solely in the third dimension. Others exist simultaneously in
the fourth and fifth dimensions.

In the Arcturian system, we live predominantly without a gravity
field. There is, however, a slight gravitational pull on our etheric
presence.

We are now overseeing an inhabited planet in our system that is third
dimensional like the Earth, but moving towards the fifth dimension. We
are assisting those souls by helping them to reincarnate through the
Earth system, and then use that energy to connect to an access point
into the fifth dimension. Many Arcturian starseeds currently on Earth
come from this planet.

The Arcturian Culture
We exist in a dimensional reality that is of a clarity that you cannot
currently comprehend. The purity and the clarity on our planet would
be very refreshing to you. You would immediately sense a personal
purification upon initial contact with us. The extra baggage you carry
on your third dimensional world would be immediately eliminated.

We have no concerns about physical survival, security, retirement,
pension, or even forms of primitive work. These matters are not
included in our realm. We devote our time and space to spiritual life.
This is not a life without pleasure, do not mistake that. We engage in
music and in relationships. We engage in work, but it is not on the
primitive level that your culture and society demands. The work is
more suited to our individual desires and spiritual paths. This higher
concept of work is something that you are now seeking.

We are very focused on the color blue. We focus on intermingling with
other dimensions. The whole system of our civilization is based on a
group of leaders who are deeply involved in thought projection. They
help to maintain the structure of our civilization, its codes, its
spiritual harmony and unity. The foundation of the system is
maintained through thought projection. This is the true work of our
leaders. They are specially chosen, and they are trained to maintain
the thought projections of our system.

This allows others to engage in exploration. Our explorers know that
they can return to our base of operation. When we travel
interdimensionally, it is important that we take with us workers who
will continue to connect with our base of operations through thought
projections.

Thought projection requires a concentrated effort and an ability to be
extremely focused. It is used by the Pleiadians and the Arcturians for
the manifestation of objects and tools. We have special training
centers that teach thought projection. The first step is to remove
attachments, for you cannot do thought projection for personal gain or
greed. That is one of the laws of the universe. If the ego is too
involved in these projections, then the task becomes impossible.
Teaching the principles of thought projection involves instilling the
knowledge of how to use this tool wisely.

All beings, including humans, possess a particular frequency that
allows us all to uniquely express ourselves in a mission. Your mission
is a symbol and a significant sign of your starlight. We attune to
that concept very early in our children's development, so that we can
immediately provide the highest stimulation and direction for each
child. We are not competitive, for we are trained to realize that each
of us has a unique frequency, or purpose.

The Arcturians are a very peaceful race. We have not been involved in
warfare for a very long time. We do have the ability to manifest in
the third dimension. We have the ability to protect ourselves on our
ships, but we are not engaged in anything that is even close to any
form of conflict. If we encounter a problem, we can immediately
dematerialize. Thus, any object that would be projected our way would
simply go through us, and not cause us any harm. Many extraterrestrial
civilizations have learned how to do this.

On Arcturus, we too experience the death of our form, but our passing
is experienced in a much different sense. For it is not conceived as
the end, but merely as a transitory state of our existence. Our
Arcturian lives are only one of the many different multidimensional
selves that is part of our complete being.

The Arcturian Energy Libraries
As your electromagnetic energy fields vibrate at faster rate, your
memories will be activated. Go to the libraries of Arcturus in your
thoughts. The libraries will be a very comfortable place for you.
These libraries are not like normal libraries on the Earth plane,
where you go and read books. They are libraries of energy sources.
So you must imagine that when you come into a library, you are
remembering energy patterns and electromagnetic vibrations.

All of your historic religious masters have had exposure to, or
elongated contact with extraterrestrial energies. Some did not even
know that they were in contact with extraterrestrial sources. These
contacts were experienced as gods or as angels speaking. All of your
masters have reached the point of electromagnetic awareness that
allowed them to experience a nonverbal, mystical energy. This is what
you are moving to when you come into the Arcturian libraries.

The Eckankar is also very connected with Arcturian energy. The light
vibration from the Eckankar is Arcturian in source. The light streams
in the electromagnetic vibratory arrangements are very similar in
frequency to the energy you will find in the Arcturian libraries. The
Eck masters have freely come and worked in the Arcturian libraries.
Many of them are accessing Arcturian energy from the libraries.

You are very verbal and very literal in your thinking processes, but
you can also know and remember through an energy exchange. This has
been the basis of the Eckankar process in its pure form, i.e., an
energy exchange. This comes directly from the Arcturian spiritual
schools where you are trained and taught through energy magnetism.
Bring yourself to the point of allowing that process to occur within
you.

Form and Appearance
We will send you an image of our appearance. Do not use the Zeta
Reticuli as a standard. You may picture a slender being that is a
male. In your terminology, he is approximately five feet eleven inches
tall, very slender, with flowing hair. He has a cape that comes down
to the waist. His face is slender. He has large eyes, eyes that are
twice the size of human eyes. His ears are relatively small and
slender. His mouth is slender, with thin lips. Talking is not a high
priority because we use thought transmission. He is very pleasant. Can
you imagine that figure?

We are manifesting our presence to you. We will work through Gudrun
for the drawing of the picture, and she will have all the necessary
information and guidance. Perhaps this picture could be included with
some of the writings, as many people are curious about us and we
understand your desire to picture us more fully.

This is the best form for us to assume during a third dimensional
interactive state, but we can exist on many levels, and we can assume
other forms. To come into this dimensional level, however, we have a
specific form that we assume. Were you to meet us on another level,
you would interact with us in another form. You would have no way of
describing that other form in Earthly terminology.

You would not be able to relate to our pure form now, because you are
still maintaining your physical presence. Your physical presence on
the Earth requires a certain confinement of thought and energy. When
you are able to break out of this confinement, you will know that you
are also vibratory beings who do not need to be encased in physical
bodies. You are currently evolving toward this perspective. This is
also the perspective that is involved in ascension. You must realize
that your physical bodies are not required for your continued
existence. The goal is to become more wholly invested in your light
body, or vibratory form.

You may question our physical structure and our apparent lack of
physical strength. Because of our highly developed thought processes,
we can use telekinesis and teleportation for moving ourselves and
other objects. We do not need to use any form of physical exertion.
Mental powers are so much more efficient! We do not need to create
objects that are heavy. Our technology is advanced enough to make
objects light and easily moveable with the mind.

You can even sense "thought movement" on Earth when you have light
objects around, such as a feather or a piece of paper. When the wind
blows you know the paper may move. Sometimes you can even encourage
the wind to come and that will move the paper. Such an action is a
beginning sign of telekinesis. If you are interested in developing
your telekinesis skills as well as your telepathic skills, then we
suggest you work on very light objects in the early stages. We will
not guarantee your success. You have not been trained at an early age
to engage in these processes the way that we have from childhood.

Arcturian Consciousness
We are individual souls, but we constantly relate to our group soul.
However, we relate to our group soul in a way that is not easily
understood by you. You perceive coming into a group consciousness
as giving up your individuality. However, coming into the group
actually enhances your individuality. We are not advocating that there
should be a mass giving up of individuality. We have individual souls,
but we are so highly evolved that we are in touch with our group soul
constantly.

We have gone beyond the ego boundaries you still experience. We have
gone beyond even the physical dimensions you exist in, such as your
body form. We have developed techniques for group souls, or extended
families, as you have called them. You might think that our individual
selves have been given over to the group self. This has occurred in
some local galactic civilizations. The Zeta Reticuli have experienced
an evolutionary lapse, a weakness in their chain. Because of their
complete focus on the group, they have not been able to progress. They
have lost too much of their individuality, and they have begun to lose
their genetic vitality. Fortunately, we did not have this problem. We
were able to encompass and integrate the needs of the individual with
those of the group.

Please understand that, in our perception, we are a group energy, and
we participate in group soul activity. You ask us if we are mental;
the answer is yes, we are mental. We are communicating with you
mentally. We are not channeling through what you would consider
emotional responses. We believe you can access this emotional energy
through your other great leaders such as Mother Mary or Sananda-Jesus.
Our role is not necessarily to repeat that message of emotion for you,
for there are others who are already bringing that vibration to you.

To assume that when a being is mental, he does not feel love or is not
emotional, is not a view we adhere to. How can one exist in a mental
framework without an emotional-body presence? We feel that mental
energy is not necessarily an energy of detachment. From our
perspective, as you rise on the mental plane, you become the observer
and the object together, without losing either boundary. It is your
philosophy that has perhaps led you to believe that you must give up
one of them. Our message to you is that when you merge with your group
soul, you are expanding rather than losing yourselves.

We have evolved far beyond the emotional problems that are so
prevalent on the Earth. We have the ability to surpass all of the
negative emotions that have been plaguing your planet. We know
that many of you view us, the Arcturians, as predominantly mental
beings. It is true that we wish to help you develop your mental
bodies. Yes, we are very scientific beings, but we can also help
you to clarify and purify your emotional bodies. Of course, we are
not solely mental beings. We are very much attuned to your emotional
life and to your emotional well being.

The Arcturian Energy
The Arcturian energy can be described as a crystal light. We are
devoted to spiritual enlightenment. We know that the goal of spiritual
enlightenment has to do with gathering and holding more energy. Do not
think of gathering more energy in terms of having more material
possessions. It really involves multidimensional holographic energy
inclusion. The energy that we are working with and teaching you about
is an energy that comes from all directions. It comes not just from
the top or just from the bottom, or the front or the back- it is a
total energy. You are not just a front, nor are you just a back. Your
soul knows no bounds; your monadic self has no up or down. Your
monadic self has nothing in it that you can define in your spatial
perspectives.

It is interesting that when you speak of the Mother-Father Creator
energy, you often say that you cannot describe this energy. Your
monadic self is also indescribable. We have to come into a
consciousness that, as close as possible, has no boundaries. In
your pure state, you are also limitless and holographic in nature.

We are evolving to that state of total merging into the monadic self.
In the merging process, we have developed the ability to transmute our
energy into other dimensions. We have developed the ability to travel
interdimensionally, both to higher levels or lower levels. When we do
that, we must create a portal or a corridor. By entering your
dimension, which is much denser than ours, we actually create an
opening because we are bringing in higher energy. The Earth
desperately needs such energy infusions. Just by connecting with our
consciousness, you are helping to stabilize the energy infusion that
we are offering the Earth.

Because the Arcturian energy is a vibration that is very light, it
is oriented towards a group uplifting. We are experts in working
with groups. This is one of the reasons why Sananda has called upon
us. We know that the group consciousness generates more energy for
you. You can ride on that group energy to lift yourself up. We do not
ask that you forego your individuality or your discernment. All we ask
is that you come together in groups. Then you can access the group
consciousness and the accompanying powerful energy surge. This group
energy will help you to overcome minor blocks and detours in your
personal ascension process.

The energy of the Arcturian connection is contagious. Most of you who
are lightworkers wish to resonate with us. In truth, in other
lifetimes, you have been seeking an Arcturian connection. We have been
designated as the high energy portal for this sector of the galaxy. It
is the sector, or portal, that many have striven to reach. We work
with you now to bring you to the highest level of your intuitive
possibilities. We know that there are many problems that confront you
in the third dimensional existence. Some of these are physical
problems of health, some problems have to do with financial matters,
and some problems concern your employment. No matter what level of
problem that you are dealing with, remember that our energy remains
connected to you.

The Arcturian energy is like a thread of light running through your
existence and connecting with us. Do not lose your spiritual awareness
because of any third dimensional problems. These third dimensional
problems do not mean that you are being punished, or that you are
somehow spiritually inferior. Different levels and kinds of energy
accumulate on this dimension, and it requires a very sophisticated
perceptual awareness to be able to dodge all the different densities
on the Earth plane.

Eventually, one of the levels of densities will catch up with you.
You will run into one. It is not to be viewed that you are not living
up to your highest potential. But you can consider it an opportunity
for you to infuse yourself with more spiritual light. You may request
that the energy be stepped up if you wish to receive a higher infusion
of Arcturian light. We will bring you as much light as possible that
you can assimilate without losing consciousness or becoming overly
burdened.

We cannot infuse you with too much light if you are not able to
tolerate the light. If this infusion would make you throw off your
commitments to the third dimensional level, then this is not
acceptable. We want you to be involved in your third dimensional
existence. We are not trying to prematurely remove you from what
you are experiencing on Earth. We recognize in all of you that you
wish to be taken from your third dimensional existence. We know,
for a fact, that if we were able to, or decided to, or were given
permission to remove you, then all of you would leave.

Many of you would joyfully give up what you have, because you think
you would not have to conclude your third dimensional drama. However,
we are also aware that these individual, third dimensional dramas are
important to you and to your soul. As much as you may be distraught
about that, these third dimensional dramas are, nevertheless,
important to you.

When you are in touch with this powerful Arcturian frequency, it does
transform you. The Arcturian energy allows you to receive much
information from us, and it can act as a healing force for you as
well. When you have this Arcturian frequency within you, it will
become so second nature to you that you will to be able to easily
magnify your spirituality. While those around you are becoming
more confused and unable to even hold a candle, you will be able to
hold a great spiritual light.

Hello~~
I had an idea on the subway last night. New Years Eve has the enormous potential to be a sychronzizing agent for collective prayer. Please spread the word: New Years Eve 12 am 5 mins before and 5 mins after, please keep a prayer in your mind. At that time, maybe we can all pray for a general common dream like For the Earth to Keep Moving Towards Balance. This can be personalized in any way. I will probably be praying for better stewardship of the environment, and the like. When the clock hits 12, maybe we can all try to connect to each other, realize that we really are all connected, and through this connection change is inevitable. Visualization is key!

The Space Elevator Comes Closer to Reality

ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO -- Make way for the ultimate high-rise project: the space elevator. Long viewed as science fiction "imagineering", researchers are gathering momentum in their pursuit to propel this uplifting concept into actuality.

Still, the mental picture needed to grasp the elevator to space ideawell, you can't be weak of mind.

Forget the roar of rocketry and those bone jarring liftoffs, the elevator would be a smooth 62,000-mile (100,000-kilometer) ride up a long cable. Payloads can shimmy up the Earth-to-space cable, experiencing no large launch forces, slowly climbing from one atmosphere to a vacuum.

Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars, Venus, the asteroids and beyond - they are routinely accessible via the space elevator. And for all its promise and grandeur, this mega-project is made practical by the tiniest of technologies - carbon nanotubes.

Seen as an engineering undertaking for the opening decades of the 21st century, the space elevator proposal was highlighted here during the 2002 Space and Robotics Conferences, held March 17-21, and sponsored by the Aerospace Division of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Thought experiment

Science fiction writers have been deploying space elevators for years.

Space visionary, Arthur Clarke, centered his novel of the late 1970s, The Fountains of Paradise, on the notion. Also, among other writers, Kim Stanley-Robinson's Red Mars noted the soaring splendor of an elevator to space. Furthermore, the scheme has bounced around technical journals for decades. Some call it a "thought experiment", but others point out that space exploration B.C. -- "Before Cable" -- will pale contrasted to what's possible within ten to fifteen years.

"Even though the challenges to bring the space elevator to reality are substantial, there are no physical or economic reasons why it can't be built in our lifetime." That's the matter-of-fact feeling of physicist, Bradley Edwards of Eureka Scientific in Berkeley, California, but carrying out heavy lifting design work in Seattle, Washington.

Edwards told SPACE.com that he's been wrapped up in space elevator work for some three years, supported by grants from NASA's Institute for Advanced Concepts (NIAC) program. "I'm convinced that the space elevator is practical and doable. In 12 years, we could be launching tons of payload every three days, at just a little over a couple hundred dollars a pound," he said.

"In 15 years we could have a dozen cables running full steam putting 50 tons in space every day for even less, including upper middle class individuals wanting a joyride into space. Now I just need the $5 billion, Edwards added.

And so it grows

For a space elevator to function, a cable with one end attached to the Earth's surface stretches upwards, reaching beyond geosynchronous orbit, at 21,700 miles (35,000-kilometer altitude). After that, simple physics takes charge.

The competing forces of gravity at the lower end and outward centripetal acceleration at the farther end keep the cable under tension. The cable remains stationary over a single position on Earth. This cable, once in position, can be scaled from Earth by mechanical means, right into Earth orbit. An object released at the cable's far end would have sufficient energy to escape from the gravity tug of our home planet and travel to neighboring the moon or to more distant interplanetary targets.

Putting physics aside the toughest challenge has been finding a super-strong cable material. "That's what has kept this idea in science fiction for 40 years," Edwards said. But the right stuff in terms of cable material is no longer thought of as "unobtainium", he said.

The answer is carbon-nanotube-composite ribbon. Small fibers of the material are set down side-by-side, then interconnected to form a growing ribbon.

Stronger than steel

The hurdle to date, Edwards said, has been the commercial fabrication of carbon nanotubes. Both U.S. and Japanese firms, among others, are ramping up production of carbon nanotubes, with tons of this now exotic matter soon to be available. "That quantity of material is going to be around well before five years time. It's not going to take long," he said.

Given the far stronger-than-steel ribbon of carbon nanotubes, a space elevator could be up within a decade. "There's no real serious stumbling block to this," Edwards explained.

"The making of carbon nanotubes is moving very quick," said Hayam Benaroya, a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Rutgers in Piscataway, New Jersey. "We're moving from the scientific stage of just developing them to actual commercial entities producing them in ton-like quantities," he said.

"Perhaps within our lifetimes we might actually see real designs of skyhooks and space tethers, these kinds of things. They may be feasible at reasonable cost," Benaroya said.

"Traditionally, religion has looked on the world of natural science as opposed to the world of Spirit, but paradoxically, today, it is the world of science that is unwittingly preparing human thought for this breakthrough, by uncovering the ephemeral nature of matter at it's basic levels, and showing the relationship between mind and matter. This makes it easier to conceive of a mental or a transcendent reality. Thought is more prepared to consider the spiritual foundations of theology, and eventually to connect with the creative governing intelligence of the universe, that we call God. ("Mindpower and The Spiritual Dimension" by Richard Haw).

We are all aware of the many trials and tribulations that our world is presently experiencing. Evil, in the form of pollution, crime, hatred, greed, and moral decline, seems to be increasing in proportion to the current materialistic outlook. It would seem then that the remedy for these ills is not more materialism, but a looking away from matter towards Spirit, towards the true nature of our relationship to the Infinite Source of All Being. This wouldn't mean that we ignore our present basic material needs but when we turn to the "Divine Mind", the Collective Consciousness, or Spirit (God), whatever term one wants to use, then, and only then will we find true, practical and lasting solutions which would benefit everyone involved. I've seen this principle demonstrated and therefore know it to be true.

Einstein once said that anyone studying physics long enough is inevitably led into metaphysics.

The original Webster's Dictionary defines metaphysics as the science of the principles and causes of all things existing; hence, the science of mind or intelligence.

Christ was the greatest metaphysician. Through his miracles he proved the supremacy of Spirit over matter. He showed us by His works that there are spiritual laws, which are above material laws, that govern the universe , and when understood, they can be demonstrated as dependable, practical and absolute.

Quantum physics has come to the realization that, basically, there is no matter. It is believed that the seeming reality of our material world is nothing more than the extension or manifestation of our thinking. Thought produces energy and energy produces mass. Several great religions have acknowledged this concept all along. Now, physics is coming to the same conclusions.

Sir James Jeans wrote "We live in a gossamer universe; pattern, plan and design are there in abundance, but solid substance is rare." "Even the elements of the atom itself are only waves of energy void of solid substance. The particles of the atom have no more tangible substance than a thought or a feeling. Gradually matter as a solid thing, has vanished from our concept of the universe - replaced by a basic atomic unit, composed of space and non material charges of energy. This non material nature of the atom is a most essential point in relating the physical universe to the Spiritual Dimension" ("The Spiritual Dimension"....by Ann Beals).

Many people, including myself, at times, see modern technology as a threat to our freedom and even our health. Everything that man seems to create can be used for good or evil purposes. So, it really isn't the technology that is the problem but it is the thinking behind it. Maybe instead of dreading, fretting, and worrying...and perhaps creating the very reality we fear, we should try and view certain technological developments, such as frequency medicine, computers, cell phones, security cameras, television, microchips....even the ability to control the weather, as a step toward overcoming the seeming limitations of the material world. When we see a trend towards using these technologies for nefarious purposes, each and every one of us can always turn to the One Supreme Intelligence for harmonious solutions.

A friend once said to me, "Piece by piece, everything human beings have trusted is being revealed as completely untrustworthy: governments (services), finance (capital), industries (goods), schools, media, entertainment, medicine, etc. Everything with which we use to organize socially and politically is being stripped of value and rendered useless for anything but control through intimidation, coercion and indoctrination. We will have nothing upon which to rely for self-preservation or social and political identity. Everything that humanity has willed into being is being used to ensnare us into consenting to slavery. We cannot "will" this situation away. We can only surrender to God.

We can only empty our will to God's will, to God's Love and allow God's love to transform us. Once we are transformed with God at the conscious center of our lives, the world and it's affairs will be transformed by the energy of love, which is infinite and always there. So, this is our task: to surrender our will, to allow God's love to fill us and overflow into our world. This and this alone is how the world is changed. " It is clear to me that our world needs a different approach. This approach, that many are recommending, is not some ethereal head in the clouds type of approach but it is the same potent and loving approach demonstrated by Christ Jesus. He certainly wasn't wishy washy in his methods. He commanded the waves to be still and the storm to cease. He did cast out the money changers in the temple. He raised the dead. He healed withered limbs, fed the five thousand with only a few loaves and fishes, turned water into wine and passed through angry crowds unseen. He said "I of mine own self can do nothing, it is the Father in heaven that doeth the works"....and again, promised that we could do the same. The same power that was available to Him is available to all mankind throughout all eternity. I believe this was one of Christ's most profound teachings to humanity. Many feel that Christ's crucifixion was not an example of defeat but that his resurrection was the supreme demonstration of the unreality of matter. He proved that Life is eternal and doesn't depend on material circumstances.

There is concern today that because we are seemingly composed of energy or certain types of frequencies, that our true nature can be manipulated (through energy weapons), by those who wish to control. If we take a step back for a moment and look at this objectively, we will perhaps come to the conclusion that the seeming "powers that be" are trying to create fear and that it is really only the fear itself that we have to fear. Fear closes us off to our connection to God. God is spiritual. He is all good and he encompasses ALL. "In Him we live and move and Have our being". The Bible says we are made in His image and likeness. Therefore, we are also spiritual. Spirit is the opposite of matter. The two are totally separate. One cannot affect the other. In fact, if Spirit (God) is ALL then, like physics is now saying, there is no matter. Therefore, even energy is a form of thought. Ultimately material energy has no power over our true being....once we realize this. And this can translate into protection here and now. God/Good is the only power in control...but we have to acknowledge this, feel it and know it before we can see it becoming evident in our experience.

I would like to close with several paragraphs from "The Spiritual Dimension" by Ann Beals:

"I began my search during the gentle world of the fifties - a world that has since given way to revolutionary changes. A new society has emerged, one that has shattered the values and ethics of the past, overturned educational and cultural patterns, changed business, government and economy. While we recognize that many of these changes threaten the future of humanity, there appears to be no solutions to them. There are no simple or immediate answers to the complex problems we face. But this does not mean there are no answers. In time we will discover that an understanding of the structure and content of the spiritual dimension will provide answers to those problems that are beyond the realm of science and technology. The discovery of this spiritual dimension marks the end of one age and the beginning of another. Weird dancing in allnight computer banking lobbies. Unauthorized pyrotechnic displays. Land-art, earthworks as bizarre alien artifacts strewn in State Parks. Burglarize houses but instead of stealing, leave Poetic-Terrorist objects. Kidnap someone & make them happy.

Pick someone at random & convince them they're the heir to an enormous, useless & amazing fortune--say 5000 sq. miles of Antarctica, or an aging circus elephant, or an orphanage in Bombay, or a collection of alchemical mss. Later they will come to realize that for a few moments they believed in something extraordinary, & will perhaps be driven as a result to seek out some more intense mode of existence.

Bolt up brass commemorative plaques in places (public or private) where you have experienced a revelation or had a particularly fulfilling sexual experience, etc.

Go naked for a sign.

Organize a strike in your school or workplace on the grounds that it does not satisfy your need for indolence & spiritual beauty.

Graffiti-art loaned some grace to ugly subways & rigid public monuments--PT-art can also be created for public places: poems scrawled in courthouse lavatories, small fetishes abandoned in parks & restaurants, xerox-art under windshield-wipers of parked cars, Big Character Slogans pasted on playground walls, anonymous letters mailed to random or chosen recipients (mailfraud), pirate radio transmissions, wet cement...

The audience reaction of aesthetic-shock produced by PT ought to be at least as strong as the emotion of terror--powerful disgust, sexual arousal, superstitious awe, sudden intuitive breakthrough, dada-esque angst--no matter whether the PT is aimed at one person or many, no matter whether it is "signed" or anonymous, if it does not change someone's life (aside from the artist) it fails.

PT is an act in a Theater of Cruelty which has no stage, no rows of seats, no tickets & no walls. In order to work at all PT must categorically be divorced from all conventional structures for art consumption (galleries, publications, media). Even the guerilla Situationist tactics of street theater are perhaps too well-known & expected now.

An exquisite seduction carried out not only in the cause of mutual satisfaction but also as a conscious act in a deliberately beautiful life--may be the ultimate PT. The PTerrorist behaves like a confidence-trickster whose aim is not money but CHANGE.

Don't do PT for other artists, do it for people who will not realize (at least for a few moments) that what you have done is art. Avoid recognizable art-categories, avoid politics, don't stick around to argue, don't be sentimental; be ruthless, take risks, vandalize only what must be defaced, do something children will remember all their lives--but don't be spontaneous unless the PT Muse has possessed you.

Dress up. Leave a false name. Be legendary. The best PT is against the law, but don't get caught. Art as crime; crime as art.

In recent years, John Major Jenkins has come to be renowned as one of the leading independent researchers investigating ancient Mesoamerican cosmology. His latest effort in that study, Maya Cosmogenesis 2012: The True Meaning of the Maya Calendar End-Date, from Bear & Company Publishing (1998), specifically explores the Mayan end-date which has emerged as a point of Apocalypse for some New Age doomsayers, and remains a fascinating enigma to serious researchers. Jenkins isn’t new to the subject of Mayan calendrics and culture, having authored four other books on the subject previous to his most recent outing, including Journey to the Mayan Underworld, Mirror in the Sky, Tzolkin: Visionary Perspectives and Calendar Studies, and The Center of Mayan Time. I caught up with John in the RadioValve studios for a lengthy wine-laden, tobacco-hazed conversation about Mayan cosmology, the academic and underground tour circuits, his

books and adventures in Mexico, and other bits of verbal bandying about. This interview represents the first in a two-part series which will conclude in the next issue of The Deadly Type...

Doghead Cola:

So let’s just sort of talk about the orientation of where this book has come from. I know you’ve written several other books previously, and uh, I remember that the first night that you and I met, you ended up meeting Terence McKenna...

John Major Jenkins:

Mm-hmmm. Yeah, I remember that; that was back in 1996, actually the first time I met Terence in person. [Shortly after that] I participated in an event that he did up at the Gold Lake Mountain Ranch up in the mountains west of Boulder. At that time I was very much engaged into this research that I was doing into the Maya Calendar... my interest in the Maya stretches back to 1986 when I first visited Guatemala, and I was really amazed at this Maya civilization, and the fact that the Maya people were still around certainly was important to me. Upon returning from that first trip south of the border, I really started looking into the unanswered questions in the ancient Maya thought and civilization. As many people are aware, there’s this intriguing date in the Maya system of time that is December 21, 2012 AD. And this is the end of a large cycle of time called the 13 Baktun Cycle. It’s never been clear in the academic literature or the popular literature about what this date is about. Why did the Maya pick 2012 to end this vast cycle of time? And why did they believe the years around 2012 would be a time of great change and great transformation unprecedented in human history, at least as far as we know? And I kinda took it upon myself to do some research at the university library to track down some of these questions, and the biggest unresolved question in Maya studies is ‘Why 2012?’, what’s the big deal? Y’know, is it just some random artifact, or is there some empirical reason behind it? And the answer to my question actually came pretty early on in my research. Back in 1993 I already had a couple of books under my belt, and this 2012 enigma was very present for me. Through some of the writings of Terence McKenna I encountered this idea that we are approaching this time when the December solstice sun will be lining up with the center of the galaxy. It’s an astronomical fact. It’s caused by the precession of the equinoxes, which is the slow wobbling of the earth on its axis. And, uh, this seemed to be the reason why the Maya picked 2012.

I didn’t want to sort of rest with that as a statement…. I wanted to go deeply into the information of the Maya, mostly drawing from academic studies, to demonstrate how the Maya incorporated this concept into their basic institutions, such as the Ball Game, king accession rites, and so on.… Um, but yeah, a lot of my interest into the Maya developed from trips that I took to Mexico and Guatemala, stretching over 5 or 6 years. I basically returned almost every winter and lived and worked among the Maya in the highlands of Guatemala. Very traditional groups of Maya people, different groups of the Maya, including the Cakchiquel, Ixil, and Quiché Maya. Basically there’s six groups of pure-blood Maya living in the highlands of Guatemala, and many, many of the ancient traditions still survive. I felt that the Maya of today are heir to a very profound understanding of the cosmos; a very profound understanding of the cosmological forces that contribute to and stimulate the evolution of consciousness on this planet.

This idea of the solstice sun lining up with the galactic center—the center of the Milky Way Galaxy—seemed to be a very profound thing that should be looked at more closely. Not from just, y’know, a very popular point of view, but also from the stand-point of science. There seemed to be a real science behind this. We can call this alignment a Galactic Alignment. The cosmic center is the center of our Milky Way Galaxy; it’s the center and the source of the galaxy of which we are members. In a sense we can think of it as that place in the sky out of which everything, in the local galaxy at least, including us, has come. So this work, in trying to decode the galactic alignment and its presence in the ancient Maya system of thought was really what I took on. I lived in Boulder for many years, and sort of led a maverick, independent-scholar lifestyle, living in a small

garage—actually by that time I was living in Louisville, six miles east of Boulder—and, um, I set up my life so that I would have a lot of free time to do this research. It was really an amazing time of discovery for me. My work with the Maya and the Maya cosmology has sort of been my own gnostic path to understanding some deep principles that have to do with the situation that we are in today as a civilization... Oh, let’s see, what can we sort of... There’s a lot to talk about here, really, yeah...

DC:

Right, because clearly within all of civilization right now we’re at a head with a lot of systems which have been proven to be archaic in many ways. Um, war-driven, economically-driven, that have very little to do with the substance of who we are, and how, and why we’re here, and what it means to be alive. I mean, obviously, like, being alive means that you’re constantly on a path towards death. And you can look at that in a negative way, or you can look at it in a positive way…

JMJ:

Hmmm.

DC:

…and be, uh, generating energies, y’know, towards that... It seems like, in a sense, the calendrical studies that you’ve become involved in seems relevant ...Why did the Maya pick 2012 to end this vast cycle of time? And why did they believe the years around 2012 would be a time of great change and great transformation unprecedented in human history? …these ideas reflect the idea that we’re moving towards a death and a rebirth of this state of civilization.

JMJ:

Mm-hmm. Right. A lot of times in the presentation that I give, the question comes up, ‘Is this the end of the world?’ And, uh, there’s really no definite answer to that. I’d like to emphasize that indigenous time is cyclic, and, um, espouses a doctrine of renewal. But of course that is based upon the idea that something will be coming to an end. So it’s kind of unavoidable to confront the spiritual transformation that comes from confronting our imminent death. Instead of shying away from that, and trying to sort of evade the issue that maybe the world is going to end. I dunno—I mean, we live in a really crazy time. I mean, look at what’s going on right now with Kosovo. The nuclear threat certainly is not a done deal. It’s not over with. Also, we’re approaching the Millennium—the millennial turning of our own Judeo-Christian calendar, which, y’know, is a social-historical phenomenon... Always at the end of a decade, the end of a century—and now we’re approaching the end of a millennium—human beings react in very, very strange ways. [some laughter] And there is this feeling that something very big is coming to an end. I think that one of the biggest things that human beings can confront is death. And death can be a very transformative thing. So, um, there are many prophecies and many predictions that seem to be converging upon the time that we currently live in. And these prophecies come from, basically, cultures and traditions around the globe. Some of them very ancient, some of them more recent. We have work by visionaries such as Nostradamus, or Edgar Cayce; we have prophecies in the Judeo-Christian tradition like the Book of Revelations... All of these prophecies and predictions seem to be pointing towards our time as a time of endings, and, I would add, probably new beginnings. But what is beyond the ending of a civilization with which we have become accustomed to is unclear. I think that it’s a great opportunity for creating. It’s a great opportunity for co-creating—

DC:

Mmmm...

JMJ:

—for working together and getting real with each other, and building what the world is going to look like in the next phase, or the next chapter of human unfolding on this planet. But really, what’s fascinating for me is that, it’s only the Maya material that identifies the underlying empirical reason why we’re in a time of such great, transformative change. And it seems to be about this astronomical alignment with the galactic center.

DC:

Well, along that line, I’m curious, because based upon some other reading that I’ve done, um, there’s the concept of 2012 being Year Zero…

JMJ:

Mm-hmm.

DC:

…and that’s both kind of promising and kind of, y’know, horrifying in a sense. Y’know, obviously the Cambodians called 1973 Year Zero for themselves because their civilization was completely destroyed…

JMJ:

Right.

DC:

…by the Nixon campaign to discover the “secret” Viet-Cong encampments within Cambodia. And so that’s kind of a model that we can work with in terms of total devastation of a society. So I’m curious, in terms of this Year Zero potentially being a new beginning, is there anything in the calendrical system that kind of foretells of things that may come beyond that. Y’know, is there a set-up for calendrical ideas that also deal with community that transcends the 2012 date?

JMJ:

Yeah, but I can’t be really specific about predictions. I think we need to understand this from the point of view of systems-dynamics. What we’re approaching is Year Zero. But Year Zero in what? Um, a little background on this concept, um...The 13 Baktun period of the Maya is this period of 5,200 years, and in the Maya doctrine of World Ages, there’s five World Ages—there’s five periods of 5,200 years. So 5,200 years times five is 26,000. 26,000 years is the cycle of precession; it’s the cycle of the earth’s wobble. This is a very, very important concept. It’s been neglected in scientific discourse. In many, many ancient traditions—including Egyptian cosmology and Vedic doctrine of the Yugas—this 26,000-year cycle is recognized as a vast period of human spiritual gestation on this planet. So even in the Western astrological tradition, you have the twelve Zodiacal Ages, and, y’know, we’re supposedly entering the Age of Aquarius, and all that, and um... The Maya divided up this 26,000-year cycle into five periods whereas the Western astrological tradition divides it into twelve. Also, the Western astrological tradition is not very clear on where the beginning point of this gestational cycle should be. I mean, if it is a gestation, there must be a birth moment somewhere. Well, the Maya information provides that, and the birth moment, our collective birth moment, into the next phase of our collective unfolding as a species is the moment, or the era, in which the December solstice sun is lining up with the galactic center. It kinda makes sense too, just from the point of, y’know, understanding that the galactic center is that point in the sky that is very, very energetic…. I mean, it’s a place that is dense with radiowaves, it’s a place where quasars are found. In fact, astrophysicists believe that there’s a Black Hole residing in the center of our galaxy. This is, uh, a trans-dimensional portal that can move us into other dimensions.

So in the Maya material, they provide us with an answer to the question of when the 26,000-year cycle of human spiritual gestation ends and begins anew... So it’s really hard to be more specific about that in terms of predictions. It’s sorta funny because it’s sort of analogous to understanding the yearly cycle. It’s like, we as human beings—and our consciousness is evolving—we’re struggling to grasp these larger cycles of time of which we are a part, of which our species is slowly unfolding through. Imagine 20,000 years ago, 30,000 years ago, when human beings did not have the capacity to conceive of

the yearly cycle. Y’know, their time-concept was limited to the task at hand. And probably some intrepid shaman came along and said, ‘Hey, if we put these seeds in the ground now, they’re going to sprout in six moons, or eight moons,’ or something. Basically, it was an enhancement of the time-concept of human beings to the level of the year so that we could anticipate. And then they could say that, y’know, let’s say that today it’s like spring-time, right? Well, human time-concept became enhanced to the point that they could project forward and say that ‘in six months, it’s going to be cold.’ They could anticipate and plan for events that would be taking place in the future. Well, that’s just a very short yearly cycle. Now we’re dealing with this vast Great Year cycle of 26,000 years. And we have to start seeing ourselves as beings that are participating in a life-wave. The life-wave of humanity, a life that is beyond our own individual lives. And the amazing thing is that we are the ones who live in this time of great transformation. It’s almost like we are the ones who can plant the, uh, concept-seeds that can come to fruition 26,000 years from now.

DC:

And certainly some of the things that we’re discussing here plug in with Terence McKenna’s concept of Timewave Zero, and previous to this interview you and I have talked about that to a degree. Um...

JMJ:

Anywhere you wanna go.

DC:

Yeah. [laughter] Um...

JMJ:

I’m not even sure it’s a question of what we can do or what we can expect. I think getting back to the idea that we’re approaching this birth-death nexus... I’m mean, the imagery of the sky, this area of the sky that contains the galactic center, there are features along the Milky Way... For example, there’s the Dark Rift caused by inter-galactic dust clouds that run along the Milky Way. You can see it if you’re out there on a dark mid-summer’s night. That area of the Milky Way that contains the galactic center is very bright and very wide. And that is how the Maya were able to recognize and understand that part of the Milky Way as what they call the Cosmic Womb. They conceived of the Milky Way as the Cosmic Mother, the fertile road of light. And that bulging, wide part of the Milky Way that contains the galactic center, they called that the Womb of the Cosmic Mother. Which is a real good label for it. I mean, the galactic center is that creation place in the sky. What’s interesting to me is that a real understanding of the mindset of the Maya has sort of congealed in this research. They were basically shamans, and they were engaging in psychedelic journeys into the full multi-tiered levels of the universe. And as shamans, of course, they were accessing psychoactives—sacred mushrooms, DMT extracted from the Bufo marines toad species—there’s evidence for all of this in the pictographs of the Maya. Well, that’s really fascinating then, because it seems that the Mayan thought is much, much in advance of the most cherished notions of our own science. And because of that, it seems like we could learn a lot from the Maya. I tried to share this material with astronomers and with straight Maya scholars, but had a really hard time convincing them that this alignment is important, and that many, many ancient civilizations have recognized this alignment that we are in right now as the transformative moment for Earth. Uh, it’s really strange to me. It’s almost analogous to the density that the powers-that-be had in relation to Galileo and his telescope, y’know.

DC:

Sure.

JMJ:

He pointed his telescope to Jupiter and saw moons revolving around Jupiter, and said ‘Hey, look— proof that there are things out there that are not revolving around the earth!’ And the Church responded to that with excommunication and just a horrendous attack against Galileo.

DC:

In fact, one of the most humorous facts about that story is that, uh, he spent pretty much the remainder of his life from that point on in imprisonment because of his ideas. And on his death bed was given his last rites, and was offered a chance to confess. And just before he died he said, ‘Of course, it’s actually more true my way.’ [laughter]

Which is a funny story, y’know, it’s a great way to approach your last rites—you’re no longer excommunicated, you now go into the Heaven of doctrinal Christianity, and then at the last moment you reclaim the truth… —to be continued—
